1/28/2024 0 Comments Great wolf lodge in lake georgeI see there's also one in Pocono Mountains. Check out their room rate, and read their google reviews.Īnd when the kids are older, try Kalahari Resorts. Besides the water park, they have activities for kids throughout the day you can sign up for, like crafts, face painting, treasure hunt, etc, and in the evening, small musical show (not sure if this is holiday time only) and story time in the lobby. But I see there's a Great Wolf in Pocono Mountains, PA and one outside of Boston. We've been to a Great Wolf Lodge in the midwest and a Great Escape Lodge in Queensbury, NY. * a fun game to play - ask people in different parts of the state where "downstate" ends and "upstate" begins! Also, since you're toting kids, be aware there aren't many (any?) rest stops with food once 87N changes from the Thruway to the Northway. Taking 87 straight up, you're looking at 4-5 hours from the city proper most likely, maybe an hour less if you're starting in Westchester county. I've only been to the Great Escape during the summer, so I can't tell you much about winter attractions there.Īs you probably know, don't bother taking the Taconic for the first leg towards either of these unless you've got time to spare - every family member of mine that lives in Queens or on Long Island has stories about getting pulled over doing 58 in a 55 on their way to my folks' old house upstate*, and they're only exaggerating a little. Whiteface is excellent skiing, and the ADK "Loj" has trailheads to hike a slew of the state's high peaks (and some easier trails as well). When the kids are a little bit older, the Lake Placid area will be great.
